PEOPLE'S CATWALK 2011

A host of famous faces, including Angela Rippon, Gloria Hunniford, Michelle Keegan from Coronation St and Jody Latham from  Eastenders joined  Jeff Banks and ‘strutted their stuff’ on The Peoples Catwalk at The Trafford Centre this week-end to raise awareness and funds for The Christie hospital in Manchester.
Hundreds of shoppers and supporters of The Christie also paid £10 each to claim their moment in the spotlight and to join Jeff, Key 103 Presenters Mike and Chelsea and other celebrities on the catwalk. In doing so they raised thousands of pounds for the charity, and in particular, raised awareness about cancer and the work of The Christie.

Caroline Shaw, Chief Executive of The Christie, strutted down the catwalk over the week-end with her daughter Bella and commented “Fabulous events like this are vital in raising awareness about cancer and the work of The Christie as well as raising funds."

The catwalk combined fun and fashion but there was an overall feeling of warmth, compassion and humanity as people also told their stories of courage and support.

Said Jeff, “This year we chose a local charity, The Christie to be our partner for The Peoples Catwalk which was inspired by my visit to the hospital and meeting patients and staff. The money raised over the week-end will go directly to the  ‘ Look Good.. Feel Better’ service centre in the hospital and I am delighted that as a direct result of The Peoples Catwalk and the generosity of the local people who  supported the event, the quality of life of many cancer patients will be enhanced.”
